That is what happened to us - and now we want to share this truly special place, because you have to experience it!

40 Central Ave is the sweetest cottage in the center of the island. A few steps to the beach in either direction. A beautiful Magnolia tree and sitting area with comfortable rocking chairs, a bench and table invite to cool down in the shade.
In the back is a large porch to BBQ, or lay in the sun and gaze at the harbor.
The interior - all wood with a crisp new coat of white paint - feels beachy and spacious and you can see the beams and woodwork all the way up to the roof. A kitchen with a full sized fridge and stove and an island feel that is inviting and cozy. Two bedrooms, one with a queen sized and one with a full sized mattress are airy and clean. A couch in the living room will open up into a single mattress. There is a bathroom with an outside shower - heavenly. Simple, clean and tastefully decorated.
Cedar Island is a peninsula connected to Hammonasset State Park in Madison CT.
The island is settled with about 50 cottages, its 1 1/2 miles long and 1/4 mile wide, surrounded by water; 1/4 mile from Clinton Harbor.
Getting There
You don't need a boat to get to Cedar Island - we will take you there.
We will meet you at the marina and go over together to show you the ropes.
The rental cottage comes with use of a canoe and life vests, but feel free to bring your own small boat. a canoe or kayak or small rowing dinghy - perfect for exploring the surrounding bay and river, as well as for the occasional outing to the mainland.
Boating is big in Clinton - your own - up to 20' boat would allow you to enjoy docking on CI, fishing, water skiing, traveling out on the Long Island Sound and take advantage of activities at Clinton’s seven full service marinas, with parking slips for your boat with entertainment, movies, restaurants, swimming pool, children's activities, fitness center, pool tables, fuel dock, pump out service, free electricity, free internet, laundry mats, etc. Rent a kayak or paddle board! Go on a charter fishing boat and catch your dinner!

BUT - you don't need a boat to enjoy living
the island life! Quiet strolls along the beaches, incredible sunsets, fishing, crabbing, swimming, canoeing, grilling...
Pick up Saturday between 3 - 7pm
Drop off Saturday 11am
This island is off the grid,
the cottage is solar powered - to light up all rooms, charge phones and computers. Reception is good, however there is no internet service - unless you create a hot spot on your phone or have lunch, dinner or cocktails along the waterfronts marinas and restaurants with free internet access.

Reservation Policy and Rules
Check-In Time 02:00 PM | Check-Out Time 11:00 AM
Rental has to be paid in full before check in.
- No smoking inside
- No parties or events
- No loud noise or music after 10:00pm and before 9:00am
- Smoking allowed outside only.
- No open fires allowed per the Cedar Island Association
- Cedar Island bylaw to use stern anchor at the main dock, tied perpenticular to the dock
- Carts must be returned as soon as you are done with it
- Don't tie up boat at Gary's barge
- Use of the canoe requires signing a waiver and wearing personal flotation devices, which are provided.
- Infants and children must, OF COURSE, be supervised by their parents at all times!
Please don't pollute - respect the island as if it is yours!
Cancellation Policy
Reservations can be cancelled 30 days prior to check in for full refund.
If you cancel 14 days prior to check in you will only be refunded 75%.
If you cancel 7 days prior to check in, you will be refunded 50%
Cancellation policies may be superseded by extenuating circumstances, or cancellations by the owner in which you are fully refunded.
